Leaseholders: Proposed Major Works Collection and Payment Policy

Thurrock Council is considering introducing a new Major Works Collection and Payment Policy to help leaseholders manage the cost of major works charges.

Major works are sometimes needed to maintain, improve and keep buildings safe. We recognise that these costs can be significant and, in some cases, unexpected. We are therefore exploring a range of payment options, including discounts for early payment, interest-free instalment plans, longer-term repayment arrangements and deferred payment options for eligible leaseholders.

Before any decisions are made, we want to understand which options leaseholders would find most helpful and whether these proposals would improve affordability and financial planning.
