  • Don't build on Grays' car parks

We are extremely disappointed to see the proposed development on our town centre car parks including: Darnley Road, Argent Street, and the Grays Beach car park on Thames Road. These car parks are essential for local residents to park near their homes, for those working and shopping in Grays town centre, and for those visiting Grays Beach in the case of Thames Road. Without these vital car parks, residents will be unable to park near their own homes and visitors to Grays will have nowhere to park but in residential streets which are already oversubscribed. The loss of Thames Road car park will have a detrimental impact on Grays Beach Riverside Park and discourage visitors to this amenity, affecting its viability. We call on Thurrock Council to immediately stop the proposed building on these sites.

  • Manorway 100 cycle and footbridge over vange creek to Wat Tyler Park and beyond.

Petition to: Manorway 100 cycle and footbridge over vange creek to Wat Tyler Park and beyond.

It is my intention to ask for funding from local companies and Nationa lLottery fund to build a cycle and footbridge over Vange creek around Fobbing sluice gate that will link the town of Stanford-le-Hope to Pitsea and Canvey under the Manorway at 100 project. This will see a shared cycleway connecting the national cycle route 13 to national cycle route 16 at Pitsea using the Manorway and will be a pivotal link for cyclist and walkers a like from Thurrock to Basildon and vise versa. Something that has been talked about for far too long, but no-one has done anything about. With the building of a footbridge over vange creek users will have the option to link up with two routes on the Basildon side to Wat Tyler Park and Canvey via East Creek to Northwick Road. The route will follow the whole of the Manorway from Hardie Park to Coryton roundabout some four miles using the shared cycleway already in place. From there, a dedicated path will run over footpath 191 to Fobbing Horse and out to the sluice gate where a cycle and footbridge will be placed enabling all users to have unfettered access to more routes than are currently available, in a safe and controlled environment over Fobbing and Pitsea marshes. It is also hoped to be disabled user friendly with proper surface preparation that does not include type 1 substrate which is seen at London Gateway today. Onward information posts will be placed at specific crossroads that give the user information and history about the area.

This petition is in respect of Planning Application No 19/01709/ful MineralExtraction and processing at Orsett Quarry SS17 0PP.

We the undersigned are concerned residents who strongly object to this application on the grounds that it will have a major impact on our standard of living due to the following; 1, The increase in noise that will affect local residents due to the proximity to residential areas. 2, The decrease in airquality due to the proximity of the works to neighbouring properties. 3, The detrimental impact it will have on the local ecology, which is already being impacted due to the extensive works involved in widening the A13.

  • Growth for Belhus library

    Petition to:

While Belhus library does serve the community well with their great range of clubs and community hub facilities, it lacks space for students who wish to study in a quiet room. The limitation of space in the library has forced a shortage of materials for students and book readers alike, with genres of music, art, and animals sharing one singular shelf in the building. Though the library does offer to order these books in, the delayed availability discourages members of the community to visit the library as a place of resources. I believe that an addition of an upper floor to the library will help to create a richer environment for members of the community who are completing their studies, and to reinstate the building as a core for readers and visiting primary schools.
