This petition is opposing the new 'no waiting at any time' order in Stifford Road, RM15 5NE.
Whilst we were notified of the order in September 2024, we were unaware as to how far the extensive yellow lines would affect our lives. Seven properties have been affected by this order. Whilst we appreciate we are able to park one vehicle outside our properties, the new restriction where we are unable to park across the road affects residents with two vehicles, and for our visitors. We have requested to have parking bays added across the road on the grass verge, where parking until recently was allowed. If there is no funding available to allow this, then the simplest and cost effective option would be to remove part of the double yellow lines that were recently introduced, in order to allow a few vehicles to park on the kerb as before. Please see attached diagram in documents. Our friends and family who regularly visit have nowhere to park, and this will deter them from visiting, especially elderly visitors who cannot walk very far to and from their vehicle. We also requested to have assigned resident parking outside our properties which was denied. Having this in place would ensure other vehicles do not park outside our properties, as when the area is congested homeowners have difficulty parking within a reasonable distance of their own properties. Unloading shopping, children and elderly visitors are a stress when we are unable to park outside our homes. This would not be an issue should we have parking available at our properties at all times. The seven residents this new order affects, consist of three young families with small children, two elderly individuals and three vulnerable individuals. Furthermore, five of us residents are homeowners and this order affects the value of our properties. When we purchased our homes there was never an issue on parking, and was a motivating factor for buying our homes, as easy access to our vehicles was a requirement. We hope that the above considerations can be made. Residents are happy for further consultations in order to come to an agreement.
