Will I still be able to access my rear garden through the new site?
While there will be restrictions of access during the construction period, these plans have been carefully designed to ensure that all rights of way and access will be retained in the long term (post construction).
If you believe you hold a right of over the site that may be affected by the construction of the development, we kindly ask you to contact us as soon as possible. Please either email charles.parkin@montagu-evans.co.uk or emily.village@montagu-evans.co.uk with your contact details and address.
How many car parking spaces will be available?
There will be 15 car parking spaces provided. This includes at least 2 parking space for each household, and an additional visitor parking space.
Will we be inconvenienced whilst the works are being carried out?
We will ensure any inconvenience during construction is kept to a minimum. The contractor we have appointed, TJ Evers, is a member of the Considerate Contractor Scheme - https://www.ccscheme.org.uk/(External link). Below are items we are aware may cause potential disruption, however these will be managed and mitigated by Thurrock Council:
Why do we need to build new homes?
Chadwell is a popular place to live, which means there is an ongoing high-demand for a range of different types of new housing; from flats to larger family-sized houses.
The Council housing register currently has over 4000 active housing applications as of March 2026.
The proposed development consists of 7 x 2 bedroom modern, high-quality council homes, for affordable rent. Building new homes will help to reduce the number of people waiting for affordable council housing.
How is the council planning to fund this project?
The council plans to use the money retained from the sale of council homes under the Right to Buy. Once completed, the homes will bring additional rental revenue to the Council.
