East Tilbury Conservation Area Character Appraisal and Management Plan, 2022
Consultation has concluded
We would like to know your comments on the East Tilbury (Bata village) Conservation Area Character Appraisal and Management Plan.
East Tilbury (Bata) conservation area was designated in 1993. Periodically the Council reassesses the area and updates the management plan. The previous Character Appraisal and Management Plan (CAMP) was adopted in 2007.
The Council has a duty to preserve and enhance our historic assets and character areas for the benefit of current and future owners, residents and visitors. Once an historic asset is lost, it cannot be retrieved.
The appraisal serves as a baseline - how well does the area represent its heritage, and what about it is special; the management plan guides changes in the future. This document informs successful proposals for new development or changes to existing buildings to ensure sensitivity to the Conservation Area and appropriate design quality.
There are no changes proposed to the boundary of the Conservation Area. This update simply provides a new baseline and management guidance based on best practice. We'd like to hear your comments on the document before we consider adoption.
Note: This document was updated on 2nd February 2022 at 7pm to clarify the authorship of the document by Place Services now shown on the front cover.
