You are invited to take part in a public consultation on proposed improvements to Stanford-le-Hope, aimed at improving safety, accessibility and connections for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users in the town centre.
We have obtained Section 106 funding from recent development to implement the proposed scheme, which aims to create a safer environment for pedestrians and cyclists and improve connectivity between Stanford-le-Hope Station and the High Street.
The proposals include:
- Widening the footway on London Road near the Station and moving the bus shelter back to provide more space for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Removing existing speed cushions at the entrance to Victoria Road and replacing them with a raised table and informal tactile crossing points to help reduce vehicle speeds.
- Introducing a controlled pedestrian crossing on London Road to create a safer link between the Station and nearby shops.
- Installing raised tables with tactile paving to improve pedestrian safety and slow traffic.
- Creating a new bus stop on King Street to encourage greater use of public transport and improve access to the town centre.
- Reconfiguring part of the existing taxi rank to increase parking provision on the left-hand side of King Street.
Feedback received through the consultation will help inform the final design before any implementation begins.
