Consultation has concluded

Outcome

From 15 July 2022 to 5 September 2022, we consulted on the SCI and received comments. We considered the comments and, as a result, made changes to the SCI final version.

Details of the consultation and the comments received are in our statement of consultation. We also produced a community and equality impact assessment on the SCI and its consultation.

The Council is seeking comments on a revised draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI).

The SCI sets out how the Council will engage and consult with the local community and other stakeholders on planning matters by defining how and when they can get involved in the preparation of planning documents and in determining planning applications.

The previous SCI for Thurrock was adopted in December 2015. Work on an update was started in late 2019 and public consultation on a draft version was undertaken but progress was halted in early 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This revised SCI has taken into consideration the representations received but has also been updated to reflect new engagement methods brought about by the pandemic, revised national guidance and the Council’s Collaborative Communities framework.

The draft SCI can be viewed in the Document Library to the right.

The quickest and easiest way to respond to the consultation is by using the online Comment Form below.

Alternatively, a copy of the Comment Form can be downloaded from the Document Library to the right and sent by email to growth&strategy@thurrock.gov.uk, or by post or by hand to

Strategic Planning, Thurrock Council, Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL

All comments must be received by 5pm on Monday 5 September 2022.

You are not required to login or create an account to provide your comments to this consultation. However, if you provide comments without logging in we will be unable to send you any update on the consultation and the SCI.

Once the consultation has closed, the Council will consider the comments received, prepare a Consultation Statement and, if necessary, make amendments to the SCI before it is adopted. Once adopted, it will replace the current 2015 version of the SCI.
